School/University
partnerships:
UC campuses are establishing long-term partnerships
with local high schools and their feeder schools
to strengthen the school's academic program and
to help more students become eligible for college.
In this systemwide initiative, UC campuses are
also mobilizing student
preparation programs and professional development
opportunities for teachers and administrators.
Community
collaboration: Partnerships with local neighborhoods
and communities help improve the academic achievement
of all students.
- The
Urban Community School Collaborative works
to create and sustain collaborative relationships
between UC campuses, local community-based organizations,
school districts, and other agencies and institutions
throughout the state.
- UC
Links is a network of after-school program
sites providing access to quality
technology-based educational resources and
activities for children from diverse,
low-income communities throughout California.
-
Two Community Education Research Centers (CERCs)
make UC resources more accessible to local communities
and serve as a locus for collaboration. They
are located in the San Francisco Bay area (through
UC Berkeley, 510/987-9354) and in the Los Angeles
Basin (through UCLA, 310/206-4353).
