• The SAGE Scholars program (510/987-9100), on the UC Irvine and UC Berkeley (510/642-2325) campuses, provides comprehensive multi-year paid internships, extensive mentoring, workshops and financial support to promising, economically disadvantaged students during college.

Community collaboration

• Two Community Education Research Centers (CERCs) make UC resources more accessible to local communities and serve as a locus for collaboration. They are located in the San Francisco Bay area (through UC Berkeley, 510/987-9354) and in the Los Angeles Basin (through UCLA, 310/206-4353).

• The Center for Research on Education and Work (CREW) at UC Berkeley is dedicated to the study of learning and work.

Urban education

• The Center for Urban Education at UC Berkeley researches ways to improve the quality of education for students in low-income urban areas, and promotes dialogue between UC researchers and school practitioners about strategies to improve urban schools.

Service Learning

• The Service-Learning Research and Development Center (SLRDC) at UC Berkeley researches and promotes the value of undergraduate participation in K-12 education.

Education Policy

• The Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE), sponsored by the Schools of Education at UC Berkeley and Stanford University, provides analysis, research and assistance to California policymakers, education professionals, and the general public on issues facing California's K-12 education system.
