As the summer ends and we begin our work for the remaining months of 2010, this issue of “AFTRA Magazine” offers an opportunity to reflect on beginnings and endings, and our continuing evolution into a union of industry leaders.
Our cover story features AFTRA member Jeremy Redleaf, who participated in the AFL-CIO’s inaugural Next Up Young Workers Summit held in Washington, D.C. this past June. Jeremy shares his experience at the summit among more than 400 of his union peers—whom he calls his “brothers and sisters”—from across the spectrum of American industry. These young workers gathered as part of the AFL-CIO’s new initiative to revitalize the American labor movement by engaging with and energizing our unions’ youngest members—the next generation of activists.
