About Roberta Reardon

Roberta Reardon was re-elected National President of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists on August 8, 2009, by unanimous vote at the 62nd AFTRA National Convention in Chicago.

She was first elected National President on July 21, 2007, by unanimous vote at the union’s 61st AFTRA National Convention in Philadelphia. She had served as AFTRA New York Local President and AFTRA National Second Vice President since 2003.

Ms. Reardon has served on the New York Local Board of Directors since 1997 and the National Board of the AFTRA since 1998. She served as Third Vice President of the AFTRA New York Local from 2001 through 2003, and sits as National Chair of the Network Code, Television and Radio Commercials and Non-Broadcast / Industrial / Educational contracts negotiations.

Ms. Reardon was elected a Vice President of the AFL-CIO at its National Convention in September 2009, and she sits on the Arts & Entertainment committee of the New York State Federation of the AFL-CIO. She is a Board member of the Union Leadership Institute of the Cornell University Institute of Labor Relations, and serves on the AFTRA Foundation Board of Directors. She is a Trustee of The Actors’ Fund and a Chair of the New York Production Alliance.

Ms. Reardon was honored with the Jewish Labor Committee’s Humanitarian Award in October 2009, after being honored by the JLC’s Los Angeles Chapter with its John Doherty Dor L’Dor Mentoring Award in June 2008.

Ms. Reardon has twice been named to The Hollywood Reporter's Annual Women in Entertainment Power 100 List, which highlights the most powerful women in the television and film industries, ranking No. 81 in 2008 and No. 70 in 2009. Ms. Reardon was also named to ELLE Magazine’s Women in Hollywood Power list in the November 2009 issue.

Professionally, Ms. Reardon began her career performing in daytime dramas.  She has since appeared in hundreds of commercials for a variety of sponsors.  She also does TV voiceover work, radio commercials and industrial films and narration. She has performed many diverse roles in New York and regional theater as well.

Ms. Reardon lives in New York City and is married to actor Walter Cline.
