Privacy Policy
Thank you for visiting The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists' ("AFTRA") website (the "Site"). Your privacy is very important to us. We want to make your experience on the AFTRA website as enjoyable and rewarding as possible, and we want you to use the information, tools, and opportunities with complete confidence.
We have created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy and security. This Privacy Policy describes how AFTRA collects information from website visitors, what we do with the information we collect, and the choices you have concerning the collection and use of such information. AFTRA encourages you to take the time to read this Privacy Policy.

Website Policy Only
This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by AFTRA through the Site. This policy may differ from AFTRA's policy with regard to personal information collected from Members through other sources, such as during the membership application process or when requesting a change of address. AFTRA has a strong commitment to protecting and maintaining the confidentiality of its Members' private information.

Personal Information Collected and How It is Used
In general, when you visit our Site and access information you remain anonymous. We do not require you to register or provide personal information to view our site. There are occasions when we will ask for additional information. We do this to better understand and respond to your needs and to provide you with valuable services. Additionally, to register for the Members Only area of the Site, you will be required to submit your member number and last four digits of your social security number. This information is used solely to verify your identity and to provide you with access to the Members Only area of the Site.

Information submitted to AFTRA through the Site is kept confidential and is never shared except as required by law. It may at times be used to provide you with further information about AFTRA. These communications may be sent by email, postal mail, fax or otherwise. Occasionally, these communications may contain requests for financial or other assistance. If you do not wish to receive communications from AFTRA, please send an email to privacy@AFTRA.org and request that we remove you from any such list. Please note that any request sent pursuant to this paragraph is limited to information you have submitted through the Site. It does not remove you from any other AFTRA mailing lists.

Links to Third Party Sites
We provide links to third party sites. Since we do not control those websites, we encourage you to review the privacy policies posted on these third party sites. AFTRA is not responsible for the content or policies of these third party sites.

Responses to Email Inquiries
When you send email inquiries to AFTRA, your return email address is used to answer the email inquiry we receive. AFTRA does not use the return email address for any other purpose and does not share the return email address with any third party unless specifically authorized by you in the email inquiry.

Voluntary Surveys
We may periodically conduct surveys on the Site. We encourage you to participate in these surveys because they provide us with important information that helps us to improve the types of services we offer and how we provide them. We will keep any personal information submitted confidential and will expect third parties conducting such surveys to do the same. Participation in our surveys is voluntary.
We may take the information we receive from individuals responding to our surveys and combine (or aggregate) it with the responses of other visitors to create broader, generic responses to the survey questions (such as gender, age, residence, hobbies, education, employment, industry sector, or other demographic information). We may then use the aggregated information to improve the quality of our services and to develop new services and products. This aggregated, non-personally identifying information may be shared with third parties.

AFTRA Partners and Sponsors
Occasionally, products and services may be offered to you in conjunction with a non-affiliated partner. To provide some of these products and services, the partner may need to collect and maintain personal information. In these instances, you will be notified before any such data is collected or transferred and may decide not to use that particular service or feature to avoid the sharing of your personal information with that partner. AFTRA may share non-identifying and aggregate information, but not personal information, with such partners to administer the co-branded products or services offered.

Special Cases
It is AFTRA's policy not to use or share the personal information about visitors to the Site in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. However, AFTRA may disclose personal information about you, or information regarding your use of the Site for any reason if, in our sole discretion, we believe that it is reasonable to do so, including: to satisfy laws, such as the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, regulations, or governmental or legal requests for such information; to disclose information that is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our policies; to operate the Site properly; or to protect AFTRA.

"Cookies" and How We Use Them
A "cookie" is a small data file that can be placed on your hard drive when you visit certain websites. This is useful because your browser (such as Netscape or Internet Explorer) can remember some specific information, which the web server can later retrieve to enhance your visit to the website. Cookies cannot be used to obtain data from your computer, get your e-mail address or access sensitive or personal information. The only way that any private information could be part of your cookie file would be if you personally provided that information to a website. Also, each cookie can only be read at the site where the cookie was created.

AFTRA may use cookies to collect, store, and sometimes track information for statistical purposes to improve the products and services we provide and to manage our telecommunications networks. These cookies do not enable third parties to access any of your personal information.
Additionally, be aware that if you visit non-AFTRA websites where you are prompted to log in or that are customizable, you may be required to accept cookies. Other third party sites may also use cookies. We do not control use of these cookies and expressly disclaim responsibility for information collected through them.

AFTRA's Commitment to Children's Privacy
Protecting children's privacy is especially important to us. It is our policy to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and all other applicable laws.

At the present time, we do not collect any personally identifying information from children. The sole exception may arise when a child seeks access to the Members Only area of the site as described above. This information will be transmitted through a secured server and is only accessible by authorized personnel.

We believe that there is no substitute for proper parental supervision. For further information about tips, tools, age-appropriate or kid-friendly websites and how to report online trouble, please visit www.getnetwise.org. AFTRA recommends that children ask a parent for permission before sending personal information to AFTRA or to anyone else online.

AFTRA's Commitment to Data Security
The Site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. While we make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.
