UNFAIR EMPLOYER AND DO NOT WORK NOTICE FOR AFTRA MEMBERS: KRIS LAMANS PRODUCTIONS, LLC

Please be advised that the Los Angeles Local Board of Directors and the Administrative Committee of the National Board of Directors of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA, AFL-CIO) have declared Kris Lamans Productions, LLC an unfair employer. AFTRA members may not accept employment from this company.

Kris Lamans Productions, LLC is a signatory company that is producing a one-hour non-dramatic series for My Family TV basic cable entitled “Icons USA” (a/k/a “A Musical Heritage USA”). To date, the producer has failed to pay performers compensation for program rehearsals and to make contributions on their behalf to the AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds due them under the terms of the AFTRA collective bargaining agreement.

Furthermore, Kris Lamans Productions, LLC has not posted the requested and required bond to protect union members in the event of financial insolvency. AFTRA filed a grievance against the employer on December 16, 2010, and the employer has been unresponsive to inquiries from AFTRA staff attempting to resolve this matter.

Kris Lamans Productions, LLC is in material breach of the AFTRA collective bargaining agreement. The AFTRA agreement specifically incorporates Paragraph 92 of the AFTRA Network Television Code, which empowers AFTRA to declare a signatory employer “unfair” by virtue of a material breach of the collective bargaining agreement and, further, to order its members not to work for said unfair producer.

AFTRA Franchised Talent Agents are also hereby advised that pursuant to the AFTRA Regulations Governing Talent Agents they may not engage their AFTRA member clients for services provided to Kris Lamans Productions, LLC.
