Notice of 2012 Nominations and Elections

This is the official notification of the forthcoming nominations and elections of board members and officers who will serve the Cleveland Local for the 2012-2013 term.

 

The Nominating Committee shall consist of seven members in good standing, at least three of whom are not currently seated board members.  If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, please submit your name to the AFTRA office by calling 216.781.2255 or by e-mailing cnowlin@aftra.com by January 6. The committee members will be appointed at the Jan.10 board meeting and will be tasked with proposing a slate of nominees to stand for election as our twelve board members and officers.

 

NOMINATIONS

 

Members wishing to run for the board or additionally for an office should submit your name and a short biographical paragraph of 100 words or less to be considered for nomination by the Nominating Committee prior to Feb. 6. Send submissions to the AFTRA office (AFTRA Nominating Committee, 820 West Superior Ave., Suite #240, Cleveland, OH  44113-1800) or via e-mail to cnowlin@aftra.com.

 

The Nominating Committee will meet, discuss and prepare a slate of nominees for the board and officer positions and will present the slate at the annual membership meeting in March. Additional nominations will be accepted by written petition signed by two members in good standing (other than the nominee); such petitions are available in the AFTRA office and must be submitted to the AFTRA office by Monday, March 5. Members in good standing may also be nominated from the floor at the membership meeting, subject to parliamentary procedure.

 

To be eligible for nomination and to hold office you must be an active member in good standing (defined as a member who is paid up in dues, initiation fees, reinstatement fees, assessments and fines). Members paying dues pursuant to an approved payment plan are considered to be in good standing.

 

ELECTIONS

 

The election will take place at the annual membership meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 12 at The Woman’s Club Pavilion located in Lakewood Park which is at the intersection of Belle & Lake Avenues. If there are nominations in addition to the slate presented by the Nominating Committee the election will be held by written secret ballots.
