RGPO Programs and Funding Opportunities

The Research Grants Program Office (RGPO) manages a diverse portfolio of programs and grants, which fund close to $100 million a year in faculty and graduate student research, as well as community programs and initiatives throughout California. These programs and grants take advantage of the considerable expertise and resources available at the University of California, stimulating progress on issues and problems of critical importance to the University, the State and the nation.

There are no open funding opportunities at this time. For more information about previous funding opportunities, please visit the program web sites.

Statewide Research Programs

As a service to the State of California, the University of California administers three sponsored research programs that target high-priority health issues in California. Funded by state mandates, each program funds an array of grants and initiatives that are open to researchers from all public and private institutions, industrial and nonprofit organizations, and community groups through the state. These programs engage California scientists and community researchers in the investigation of specific diseases, which are responsible for substantial human suffering and staggering financial costs in California. To learn more about these programs and funding opportunities, visit the individual program sites:

UC Grants Research Program

The University of California Office of the President directly funds a handful of systemwide research grants, which are managed by the Research Grants Program Office. To learn more about these funding opportunities, visit the individual grant or program sites:

Other Funding Opportunities

In addition to the RGPO managed programs and grants described above, the Office of Research and Graduate Studies offers a limited number of additional funding opportunities to support systemwide research priorities. Learn more about other ORGS funding opportunities.
