Paul Herlinger (1929-2010)

We Remember Paul Herlinger

Posted February 08, 2010

Veteran Northwest announcer, producer and 51-year AFTRA member Paul Herlinger died on Feb. 2.

An avid outdoorsman and environmental activist, Paul incorporated his passions into his work, producing a number of documentaries highlighting regional environmental issues.

Along with his wife Ilona, Paul also took his camera and microphone on trips around the world, which became the basis for several seasons of the tavelogue series "Blue Horizons" broadcast on KTNT-TV from 1965 through 1972.

Over the course of a 53-year career, Paul's voice became a familiar one both to regional and national audiences, in commercials, documentaries and radio dramas.  As an active member of AFTRA since 1958, Paul also served on the Seattle Local board of directors from 1979 through 1993.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ilona; children, Mark, Teresa, and Glenn; and five grandchildren.  Memorial donations may be directed to Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care, Tacoma, WA or to the National Wildlife Federation or the Nature Conservatory.

Our deepest condolences go out to Paul's family, friends and colleagues in the industry.
