UC Traveler Insurance Coverage
The University has arranged for employees and students traveling on official University business to be covered for a wide variety of accidents and incidents while away from the campus or primary workplace.
Automatic Trip Insurance Enrollment: Business related travel arrangements made by UC employees can be booked through one of the two preferred Connexxus Travel suppliers, BCD Travel or UC Travel Center. The travel reservation will automatically be registered for traveler insurance coverage. Within minutes of completing the reservation the traveler will be emailed information to use in an emergency while traveling on UC business both domestically and abroad.
For automatic enrollment login to Connexxus Travel:
- Access UC Travel Management
- Select your campus link located on the left side of the page.
- Login to Connexxus using your campus user id and password. Note for UCSB users unfamiliar with Connexxus, please refer to first time user instructions located at Accounting Services and Controls Travel site.
- Book travel online with BCD or UC Travel Center either online through the Connexxus portal or by calling an agent. Agency contact information is located on Connexxus Travel home page under "Contact an Agent."
- Important: Although Southwest Air for Connexxus (SWABIZ) is part of the Connexxus program, reservations will not automatically be registered so therefore you must Register your trip.
Accessing the Trip Insurance Enrollment Form: If travel reservations are made by an agency outside the Connexxus Travel program, or Southwest Air for Connexxus (Southwest) then trip registration is required for University related trips out of state and to foreign countries. Upon registration, the UC traveler should be provided with information to use in an emergency.
Regents, Faculty, Staff, or any person designated by UC while traveling at the direction and approval of UC. Coverage can also be provided to a spouse/domestic partner, dependent(s), and traveling companions when traveling with them and their travel should be registered (see link above).
Students can also be covered while participating in UC sponsored and supervised off-campus activities both domestically and abroad. Registration is required for activities taking place out of state and in foreign countries.
