UCOP Security and Safety Committee

UCOP has developed a comprehensive Security and Safety Program for the collective and individual safety of employees. The program addresses a variety of potential situations from daily security activities to natural disasters. Discussions of security and safety are too often postponed, but it is vital that we have programs and procedures in place to protect ourselves and one another before we have the need to do so. Knowing how to respond in these situations will allow us to protect life and property and then recover quickly and resume the work of supporting the University.

In support of that effort, UCOP established a Security and Safety Committee. The Security and Safety Committee meets quarterly and is responsible for ensuring that UCOP Security and Safety programs, issues and services are aligned with organizational values, goals and objectives. The committee is also responsible for leveraging their resources and influence to; promote a safe and secure workplace, define organizational security and safety needs, and provide the Executive Management with program recommendations and enhancements. The committee consists of management and employee representatives from HR, Internal Communications, Building Services, Executive Administration, EH&S and Risk, and others including external subject matter experts or consultants (as needed). The committee operates under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Operations and is chaired by the Director of Environment, Health, and Safety.
