This Faculty History Website is intended as a component of the effort to document the extraordinary academic achievements of Michigan’s faculty in building and sustaining one of the world’s great universities. It provides access to a comprehensive database of information concerning the thousands of faculty members who have served the University of Michigan during its past two centuries. The website capture is not complete however, it does provide evidence of the project activities and goals.

Description: GRID was formed in 2012 by faculty and students at the University of Michigan to build a community of scholars and potential practitioners interested in Information and Communications Technology and Development (ICTD). The growing field of ICTD is a multi-disciplinary area of work that examines and often actively participates in issues of economic and social development resulting from the growth (or lack) of access to technology throughout the world. The GRID webpage lists campus resources including classes, research projects, and interested people working on ICTD issues throughout the University of Michigan. Description: The University is governed by the Board of Regents, which consists of eight members elected at large in biennial state-wide elections. The president of the University serves as an ex officio member of the board. The Regents serve without compensation for overlapping terms of eight years. According to the Michigan Constitution of 1963, the Regents have “general supervision” of the institution and “the control and direction of all expenditures from the institution’s funds.” This website contains brief bios on the regents, minutes from their meetings, and other relevant information regarding their work.
