Title: Rackham Program in Public Scholarship (University of Michigan) Web Archives

URL: http://www.artsofcitizenship.umich.edu/

Collection: University of Michigan Schools, Colleges, Research, Centers, and Institutes Web Archives

Description: "The Rackham Program in Public Scholarship began at the University of Michigan in 1998 as the Arts of Citizenship Program." Arts of Citizenship helped University of Michigan graduate students develop collaborative projects with community partners that addressed real-world challenges and enhanced students’ professional development. Arts of Citizenship offered a set of programs designed to provide professional development opportunities for graduate students interested in careers as public scholars within and/or outside the academy; supported mutually-beneficial creative and scholarly collaborations between U-M graduate students and community organizations that furthered the public roles of the arts, design, and humanities; developed sustainable partnerships that strengthened local communities with arts, cultural, and civic organizations in southeastern Michigan and across the Great Lakes region; and worked with U-M graduate students and faculty to integrate concepts and methodologies from public scholarship into graduate curricula in the arts, design, and humanities. "Since becoming a program of the Rackham Graduate School in 2010, Arts of Citizenship has widened its disciplinary reach, garnering student participation from 51 graduate degree programs across campus. This disciplinary expansion informed the program’s renaming in 2016. The Rackham Program in Public Scholarship reflects the expansion of these programs beyond the arts and culture disciplines to the social science and STEM fields."

Title: Faculty and Staff Counseling and Consultation Office (University of Michigan) Web Archives

URL: http://www.hr.umich.edu/mhealthy/programs/mental_emotional/counseling-consultation/fasap/

Collection: University of Michigan Administration Web Archives

Description: "The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) at the University of Michigan traces its origins back to 1973, when Staff and Union Relations (a sub-unit of Personnel, now Human Resources and Affirmative Action) appointed the Troubled Employee Research and Study Committee. Chaired by Carol Surles, the committee worked for a year studying the various behavioral-medical problems that interfere with job performance and drafted a proposal for a troubled employee program. In response to the recommendations of the committee, Staff and Union Relations assigned a half-time personnel representative in July 1975 to implement and coordinate an employee referral program. Despite the fact that this early attempt was informal and unpublicized, the response was great enough to indicate the need for an official, highly publicized program. As a result, FASAP was formed in 1977 and designated as the internal, university employee assistance program."

The use of multiscale methods, such as the Kinetic Monte Carlo technique combined with Molecular Dynamics, makes it possible to follow the transformations that occur during nanoparticle formation and their interactions with other systems in a chemically specific way, providing information on both the chemical structure and the configuration of the system (i.e. their agglomerates)." The website includes information about the lab and its facilities as well as personnel, research projects, and related publications.

Title: Rackham Program in Public Scholarship (University of Michigan) Web Archives

URL: https://www.rackham.umich.edu/publicscholarship/

Description: In 1950, the University of Michigan formally established the School of Natural Resources, the first of its kind in the world, but the study of natural resources and environmental problems has been part of the University for over 100 years. Fittingly, the school changed its name to the School of Natural Resources and Environment in 1992. The school remains an international leader in educating students to be innovative and effective stewards of the environment. This site provides information on resources, courses, and programs available from the School.
