The Islamic Center serves the needs of Muslims in the greater Detroit area as well as throughout the U.S. ICOFA receives, administers and distributes funds to preserve and teach the religion of Islam; perpetuates the social, moral, and religious standards of Muslims in the U.S.; teaches the Arabic language; educates the American society about Islam and the Arab culture. Description: The Lebanese American Heritage Club (LAHC), founded in 1982 by Lebanese business owner and community leader, Ali Jawad, in Dearborn, Michigan, home to the largest, concentrated population of Arab Americans. A 501 c(3) non-profit organization, LAHC expanded to serve its members and the greater Michigan community in a variety of ways through diverse programs and initiatives. The organization's mission is to promote the educational, athletic, cultural and social advancement of the Arab American community and to serve as an institution dedicated to enhance relations between the Arab American communities at large.
