FER works in environmental education, advocating sustainable development, and practical nature conservation. The foundation fulfills its mission through active cooperation with other non-governmental organizations, local regional and national government units, high schools, universities, and other parties. The foundation stimulates and encourages the free exchange of information and social participation in decision- making. Foundation for Sustainable Development is a member of Alliance of Associations Polish Green Network.
