Description: The African Union of Conservationists (AUC) promotes contemporary environmental conservation activities and facilitates joint work wbetween local, national, and international organisations. CBOs, CSOs, local authorities and governments are among its members. AUC was established to involve as many conservationists in Africa as possible to champion environmental conservation and developmental integration. The Union provides an essential framework and direction for Africa to arrest its current environmental changes and challenges. It helps governments, communities, groups, and individuals improve their environmental management systems for conservation; coordinates conservation activities in a systematic manner; communicates important information emerging from the conservation and development sectors; and acts as a multi-sectorial body with committees that drive conservation.
