Description: The Mvula Trust is South Africa’s largest water and sanitation non-governmental organization. It was established in 1993, six months before the fall of apartheid and first democratic elections in South Africa, with the goal to initiate and fund community-driven and sustained water and sanitation services in underserved rural and peri-urban areas. The Mvula Trust has ten focus areas, including rural water supply, sanitation, water quality, and rainwater harvesting. This organization seeks to alleviate poverty through influencing sustainable water provision policy development, encourage community-based resource management, and advocating for cost effective and sustainable water management.
