Description: The mission of the Rice Processing Program is to conduct both basic and applied research to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of current processing operations, as well as to provide fundamental information to be utilized in the development of new products and processes. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality and value of rice and rice products. The research scope ranges from property characterization at harvest to assessment of consumer preferences of processed rice. Emphasis areas include: pre-harvest property characterization, drying, storage, milling, quality assessment, cereal chemistry and sensory analysis of rice and rice products.

Description: FSP is responsible for the production of rice and soybean foundation seed and assisting breeders in the production of breeder seed. Its primary goal is to make the seed of newly released and proven varieties available to Arkansas growers as quickly as possible. The Foundation Seed program is administered by the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station and based at the Rice Research and Extension Center near Stuttgart. It operates in a state-of-the-art seed plant opened in 2016.

Description: The primary research focus of the Livestock & Forestry Station is on beef cattle management/production through large-scale replicated forage trials on the 350-head brood cow herd utilizing three of the predominate forages commonly used in Arkansas – Kentucky 31 fescue, bermudagrass, and winter annuals. The forestry program is comprised of 1,750 acres of upland hardwood timber and shortleaf pine that are managed to enhance productivity, species composition, survivability, and marketing options.
