Description: The Elections Division, under the California Secretary of State, oversees federal and state elections. In statewide elections, voter information pamphlets are prepared in ten languages for about 22 million registered voters. The Secretary certifies voting equipment for security and accuracy, enforces election laws, maintains a voter database, certifies candidate lists, tracks ballot initiatives, compiles and certifies election results, educates citizens on voting rights, and promotes voter registration and participation.
