Description: In this report, [the Little Hoover Commission] examines ways in which California can improve the state’s system for supporting child mental health. COVID appears to have exacerbated and amplified what many experts call an ongoing crisis in children’s mental health. To create lasting improvements in children’s mental health care, the Commission recommends that the state establish centralized leadership to promote sustained and sustainable coordination, collaboration, and accountability around mental health.
