Title: Corrections Standards Authority

Description: In 2004, the Corrections Standards Authority replaced the Board of Corrections in California. CSA,as mandated by state law, had several key responsibilities. These included setting and regularly reviewing minimum standards for local juvenile and adult detention facilities, conducting biennial inspections of these facilities, and reporting findings to the Legislature. The authority was also involved in reviewing architectural plans for construction and remodeling of such facilities and establishing standards for recruitment, selection, and training of corrections personnel. Additionally, it played a role in administering capital construction funds, overseeing state-funded local corrections programs, and conducting studies in crime and penology. **2012-The Board of State and Community Corrections replaces the California Statndards Authority**

Description: The California Broadband Council (CBC) was established by SB 1462 (Chapter 338, Statutes of 2010) to promote broadband deployment in unserved and underserved areas of the state as defined by the Public Utilities Commission, and broadband adoption throughout the state. The 12-member CBC is run by the California Department of Technology’s Office of Broadband and Digital Literacy which provides support by managing the statewide ecosystem of individuals and organizations dedicated to closing the digital divide.

Description: The State Board of Education (SBE) was created in 1852 by statute, and later in 1884 by an amendment to the California Constitution.
