Title: Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Results

Description: This is the web site for California's Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program results from 1998 to 2013. The STAR program was authorized by Senate Bill (SB) 376 in October 1997. As required by statute, the California State Board of Education designated a test for use in the STAR program. The Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program ended on July 1, 2013. The STAR program was replaced by the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System.

Description: The California Proficiency Program (CPP) has replaced the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE), using GED® or HiSET® subtests approved by the State Board of Education for language arts and mathematics proficiency measurement. The California Department of Education (CDE) is collaborating with High School Equivalency (HSE) vendors to start testing in fall 2023, following the discontinuation of CHSPE on June 30, 2023.

The CHSPE is given at many sites throughout the state.
