Description: NewEnergy is a non-governmental organization founded in 1994 in the city of Tamale, and operates from four districts in the northern region of Ghana: the Tamale Municipality, Gushiegu Karaga, West Mamprusi, and Tolon Kumbungu. This organization’s main areas of focus include water and sanitation services and advocacy. NewEnergy is one of several partners working under the Ghaja Project, a five-year project with an integrated approach to improving access to income generating activities as well as affordable and sustainable energy options for rural, underserved communities in northern Ghana by utilizing the Jatropha plant, which is drought resistant with oils that can be used as fuel.
