Description: Founded in the 1930s, The New York Hotel and Motel Trades Council, AFL-CIO (Hotel Trades Council), is the union of hotel workers in New York City. It was founded in 1921 as the Building Service Employees International Union. In 1968 the union was renamed the Service Employees International Union and in 1977, the Local 32B union had merged with Local 32J.
