Institutional Research
Welcome to the University of California Institutional Research Office (IR). We provide information and analysis in support of University management, planning and decision-making. Working closely with other UCOP departments and UC campuses, we conduct research on current policy issues regarding students, faculty, staff, finance, budget and other areas that advance the goals of the University.
Our mission is to provide timely, accurate and reliable information about the University and its external environment. We accomplish this with timely research, analysis and reporting; data quality assurance; environmental scanning; and leadership in institutional research policy.
We are pursuing a number of strategies in support of this effort:
UC Report Center
In support of our commitment to access and transparency, we will maintain the UC Report Center, a collection of published reports, information and self-service data tools that will provide UC campuses and the public with a wide range of information about the University.
UCOP Integrated Enterprise Decision Support System
We have partnered with the Office of Information Resources and Communications (IR&C) to develop a Decision Support System (DSS). DSS will make it possible to integrate data from across the organization, as well as incorporate data from external sources. Once implemented, where appropriate it will provide users in the University community with direct access to data from many of the University's major administrative systems.
