Outlook Tip of the Month: Message Receipt Verification

Date: March 2, 2007
To: UCOP Community
From: Tara Brant, Manager, IR&C; Technology Service Desk

Outlook allows you to request verification that a message has been received and/or read. This option can be set for one message or all messages sent from your account. You can receive a "delivery receipt" for any e-mail you send but you can only get a "read receipt" from other UCOP e-mail accounts.

Keep in mind that if you request a receipt, recipients will have to respond to a pop-up box. For this reason, many people prefer to reserve the receipt verification option for truly important messages, rather than all messages.
