Outlook Tip of the Month: Keyboard Shortcuts

cartoon keyboardFor some people, keyboard shortcuts are the quickest way to issue Outlook commands, instead of clicking and dragging with the mouse. Here is a list of popular keyboard commands:

  1. Compose a new message: CTRL+SHIFT+M
  2. Open a note: CTRL+SHIFT+N
  3. Create a new contact: CTRL+SHIFT+C.
  4. Create a new calendar appointment: CTRL+SHIFT+A.

  5. Go to Mail view: CTRL+1
  6. Go to Calendar view: CTRL+2
  7. Go to Contacts view: CTRL+3
  8. Go to the Tasks list: CTRL+4
  9. Go to Notes view: CTRL+5
  10. Go to the Folder List view: CTRL+6

  11. Reply to the current e-mail message: CTRL+R
  12. Forward the current e-mail message: CTRL+F
  13. Delete the current e-mail message: CTRL+D
  14. Send an open message: ALT+S

  15. Select several adjacent items: Click the first item, and then hold down SHIFT and click the last item
  16. Select several nonadjacent items: Click the first item and then hold down CTRL and click each additional item
  17. Select all the items in a folder: Click one of the items and press CTRL+A
  18. Quickly check spelling in an open item: Press F7
