Go Outlook! July Update

July 21, 2006

To: UCOP Community
From: Michael Shannon, Manager, IR&C Communication Services

The project to transition UCOP to Outlook for e-mail is wrapping up. About 1,200 UCOP employees are now using Outlook. The only departments left to be migrated are the Budget Office, the Immediate Offices of the President and the Provost, Secretary of the Regents, and Technology Transfer. Several of them will migrate this weekend and next week.

The Outlook e-mail migration will be completed in August, at which point we will convert everyone to the Outlook calendar. We intend to train PC coordinators and executive support staff in using the Outlook calendar just before we launch it. Afterwards, we will offer calendar training to everyone. In September or October, we will start ongoing instruction in Outlook e-mail at the beginning and intermediate levels.

I am aware that current e-mail storage limits are a concern for a number of you. I want you to know that IR&C is researching solutions so that we may provide additional storage capacity in the near future.

If you have questions about the migration, you may contact me at 987-0371 or the Technology Service Desk at 987-0457 or TechDesk@ucop.edu.
