New Scam – Fake Antivirus Software

There’s a new kind of Internet scam showing up. When you’re browsing the Internet, popup ads may appear, warn you about viruses or supposedly conduct a scan of malware on your computer, and advise you to update your antivirus software by clicking on a conveniently provided link. The trouble is, the ad is a trap and the scan and software are fakes. Their nefarious intent is to get you to make a purchase or to click on a bad link, leading to malware infecting your computer.
