Office of Research and Graduate Studies
The Office of Research and Graduate Studies supports research and graduate education across the University of California's ten campuses and three affiliated national labs. We provide guidance and resources to individual researchers and administrators, and strategic coordination of programs, policies and initiatives across the systemwide research enterprise.
The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) includes the following departmental units:
- ORGS Leadership and Immediate Office
- Research Grants Program Office (RGPO)
Manages over $100 million in UC systemwide and statewide funding opportunities, providing program direction, proposal peer-review, and grant and financial administration for UCOP-administered grant programs. - Research Policy Analysis and Coordination (RPAC)
Provides guidance and assistance regarding the development, interpretation and implementation of UC research policies and external rules related to the conduct of academic research. Serves as the systemwide resource on administration and negotiation of research agreements. - Innovation Alliances and Services (IAS)
Promotes the translation of research discoveries into innovative products and services through the support and enhancement of technology transfer operations, industry partnerships and collaborations. - Graduate Studies
Promotes and advances graduate education at the University of California through strategic planning, outreach and coordination. This includes the development of graduate research and preparation opportunities for system-wide initiatives and programs. - Natural Reserve System (NRS)
Provides a network of 37 protected natural areas throughout California consisting of 750,000 acres used for university-level teaching, research, and public service.
