AFL-CIO - Change to Win: the open web archive

Collected by: Collections from Friends of the Archive

Archived since: Mar, 2015

Description:

In 2005, seven large U.S. trade unions stepped away from the AFL-CIO, and formed their national organization, called Change to Win. The new organization joins the AFL-CIO as a second, independent national voice for U.S. labor unions, producing policy statements, creating resources for labor union members, and conducting an active lobbying role. At the same time, the AFL-CIO continues to support all of its key activities, many of which predate and overlap Change to Win's own initiatives. This web archive preserves the public documents on the AFL-CIO and Change to Win web sites, making it possible for scholars, researchers and policymakers to compare the official activities of both associations. In addition, the AFL-CIO and Change to Win opened a dialogue about a future rapprochement during the 2008-09 academic year. Whether the two groups reunite or not, their collective output will provide an important resource for labor historians.
