In 2005, seven large U.S. trade unions stepped away from the AFL-CIO, and formed their national organization, called Change to Win. The new organization joins the AFL-CIO as a second, independent national voice for U.S. labor unions, producing policy statements, creating resources for labor union members, and conducting an active lobbying role.
